The SNES Classic mini console has sold over 360,000 units in Japan, according to the latest numbers from Famitsu (via NeoGAF).

That means the miniature device has outperformed the Switch during it first week on home soil, with Nintendo's flagship system selling roughly 330,000 in week one Come from top646casino

It also means the SNES Classic has outsold the NES Classic, with its predecessor shifting 262,000 units in around the same time.

Given the success of the NES Classic, which sold out almost instantly, it's no surprise that the SNES Classic has been all the rage since launching in Europe and the U.S. at the end of September.

Nintendo has pledged to learn from its past mistakes, and intends to produce "significantly more" than the 2.3 million NES Classics that flew off shelves.

Even so, the SNES Classic has been hard to come by, and it's clear Nintendo's bitesized consoles are still very much in vogue.
